DFG-Graduiertenkolleg BIOphysical Quantitative Imaging Towards Clinical Diagnosis (BioQic) (2017-2020) – Tobias Schaeffter, Christoph Kolbitsch, Sebastian Schmitter

The mission of BIOQIC is to establish an institutional framework for graduate education and translational research in biophysical and quantitative medical imaging. The BIOQIC research program will advance medical imaging methods towards the system-independent quantification of tissue structure, mechanics and vascular/fluid components. The program is specifically designed to provide training in imaging sciences and to enhance skills for becoming an independent researcher. In-depth training will be provided through block courses in ‘Imaging Physics & Chemistry’, ‘Biophysics & Biomechanics’ and ‘Mathematics & Signal Processing’, as well as continuous teaching in ‘Clinical Translation’ and ‘Enhanced Skills’.

DFG SFB 1340 Matrix in Vision (2018-2022) – Tobias Schaeffter

"Matrix in Vision" aims at investigation of different Extra Cellular Matrix components in different pathologies as potential targets for  in vivo imaging. The programe combines biological imaging methods and probes for new biophysical insights into the role of mechanical tissue parameters in the development of disease. The central project C03 on quantitative imaging supports the areas of basic research and biomedical applications.
