Project Description
Subproject: movement detection and user-centered design for children with unilateral cerebral palsy Goal: Using both hands is an important condition to age-based development and self-confidence in growing children. Children with unilateral cerebral palsy suffer from limited ability to use one side, which leads to disfunction of one hand and learned nonuse. This handicap results from birth complication, infantile cerebral palsy, stroke or accidences with brain injury. The interdisciplinary project aims to widen the therapy into children’s daily life. Therefore, a therapy device, which monitors the arm movement with a sensor wristband, is developed. The movement data is sent to a mobile application sending feedback of the therapy progress. Furthermore, the mobile application includes therapy games to encourage movement exercises.
